FOOT SCAN EVENT AT KIDS’ POLE PEDDLE PADDLE (BEND, OR)

The INSITE team had a great time at the Kids’ Pole, Pedal, Paddle event in Bend, Oregon this past Sunday!

Our biomechanics team was there collecting foot impressions from event participants to help us design better insoles and shoes for kids’ feet. As a thank you for their impressions, participants received their choice from several gift cards.

A small-scale version of the popular adult Pole, Pedal, Paddle race, the kids’ event featured an obstacle course relay race for kids in grades K-7th as well as activities, food, and other vendor booths. Teams of six competed for first place (and bragging rights) in their respective grade levels.

In all, we were able to successfully take impressions of over 170 kids’ feet! These impressions will allow our lab to further study the biomechanics of children’s feet to gain a better understanding of their ergonomic needs compared to adults.

A foot mold is made by a youth participant for later foot shape data scanning.

Thank you to everyone who visited our booth and let us take an impression. We hope to see you at next year’s race!
