Foams Matter: The Best Insoles for Work Boots
Sure, your work boots are durable, but are they comfortable? In the second edition of our “Foams Matter” series, we explore the best insole materials for work boots.
Iconic workwear brand Carhartt is well-known for durable boots that work just as hard as the people who wear them, and that applies both outside and inside their shoes. Using INSITE® research and material technology, Carhartt insoles offer dynamic arch support and high-performing anti-fatigue foam, easing stress on the foot during and after taxing work days.
As a company that prides itself on supporting workers, Carhartt needed an insole solution for its footwear lines that was designed around worker’s unique needs. Achieving this goal meant using an insole that provides great cushioning, arch support, and natural body alignment for all-day comfort.
The insoles would have to hold up to the level of rugged performance Carhartt is known for, while providing all-day underfoot comfort for jobs and activities that require long periods of walking and standing.
INSITE worked with Carhartt to understand the unique function of their footwear lines so we could recommend the ideal shape and foam for their products. Our goal was to enhance the brand’s already rugged boots with an insole that would help reduce fatigue and ensure long-term comfort for hikers and workers.
The solution was our INSITE Contoura® insole, a patented ergonomic shape derived from more than 120,000 3D foot scans administered by podiatrists. This shape is designed to provide dynamic arch support, stability, and cushioning based on the science of biomechanics.
To enhance the already durable, lightweight design of Carhartt footwear, we paired our Contoura shape with our Levation™ Standard poured PU. INSITE Levation poured PU foams provide shock absorption for anti-fatigue with excellent rebound and comfort. The unique Tetrapod design in the front foot of the insole helps to disperse underfoot pressure to reduce hot-spots and preserve the insole’s shape, so that the Carhartt insole provides enduring comfort for the full life of the shoe. The result is an insole that makes life, work, and play a little easier.
I walk 7 to 10 miles a day on concrete at work. My feet always hurt. I’ve tried many other insoles with no luck. These insoles are awesome! I go through a pair of boots in a year and these insoles outlast the boots. When I get new boots, the first thing I do is replace the stock insoles with a pair of Carhartt insoles. My boots are so comfortable, I wear them on the weekends. I’ve walked over 8000 miles in the last three years with Carhartt insoles in my boots. They make a huge difference.
Carhartt insoles, built with INSITE technology, come standard in Carhartt work boots, and are available to purchase separately as the Carhartt INSITE Insoles.
